How we worked it out: heating oil at 114.2p per litre (UK average for 1,000 litres, 23 September 2026) and electricity at 26.32p per kWh (Ofgem price cap, October to December 2026, no VAT). We assume the old boiler is 85% efficient and the heat pump runs at a seasonal efficiency (SCOP) of 3.5 with a 45 °C flow temperature. Prices change, and your savings depend on your home, how you use it and your tariff. A heat pump tariff can increase them. The £9,000 grant is for off-gas homes until 31 March 2027 (£7,500 otherwise). Example figures only; your quote is based on your own survey.
