FAQ
Things people ask us.
Straight answers about heat pumps, running costs, radiators and installation.
Do heat pumps work in cold weather?
Yes. Modern air source heat pumps keep heating efficiently well below freezing, which is why they are common across Scandinavia. What matters is correct sizing and the right radiators, which is exactly what our room-by-room design is for.
Will I need new radiators?
Sometimes, but rarely all of them. Our AI-optimised heat loss model shows which rooms need a larger radiator to run at a low flow temperature. We only change what makes a difference.
Will a heat pump cost more to run than my boiler?
A well-designed heat pump running at low flow temperatures produces several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. Paired with a suitable electricity tariff, many homeowners see their heating costs fall. We'll talk you through realistic figures for your home at survey.
How long does installation take?
Most homes take a few days on site, depending on how many radiators are changed and where the cylinder goes. We'll give you a clear schedule with your quote.
Are heat pumps noisy?
Modern units are quiet, typically comparable to a fridge from a few metres away. We position the outdoor unit carefully, usually at the back of the property, and check it against the planning noise rules.
Can you service a heat pump you didn't install?
Yes. We service and optimise existing systems of all makes. Many underperforming heat pumps just need their settings, flow temperatures or controls corrected.
